We need an all year ice facility and more ice time for all of the programs to have a sufficient share of available ice

There is a huge demand for a year-round indoor rink. Nothing fancy, let the tourists go to the Pavilion. Local hockey players, ice skaters, curlers need a place to call home.

There is more than enough demand for a ENCLOSED year round full sheet, even two; when programs fill instantly, shows there is more than enough demand! Locals/tourists Use it and then some!

Bend would benefit with 3 sheets of indoor ice. Two sheets designated for hockey and figure skating, and 1 for curling.

The Pavilion has become popular with all ages/levels of skaters, which has caused there to be a very limited amount of time each week for all ice sports. A year round rink would be well untilized!!

ice rink sports have grown in every rink they've ever started in. A new rink or a full year rink should come to Bend sometime, soon. It'll be full from 5am till 11am 7 days a week b4 you know it.

No brainer! thousands of people will come to Bend from out of town and spend on hotels, restaurants, local shops ect. This would bring a big boost to the economy. This is quickl becoming a hockey town

Open skate goes on from 1:15-3:00 usually because of hockey being all day, I‘m usually never able to go open skate because I’m at school and don’t get out until 3:45. BPRD you need to change this. :(

Yes! A majority of the open skate times are during school hours. Makes no sense!

Pick up hockey at the Pavilion fills every session and often fills out in under 60 seconds. A year round rink would provide our community with a whole new world of possibilities for ice sports.

Hockey for adults and kids fills up in a flash. Curling even quicker. There's not enough open skate times. There's not enough pickup times. And never forget the amazing figure skaters!! It's time.

Bend outgrew our current ice rink even before it opened! Programs are full before the season starts. Open Skates are maxed out - they run out of rental skates! With all the revenue, please add walls.

A full-time YEAR ROUND one! The demand has exploded in the last 5 years. We're a winter sport town. What did they expect?

An indoor all season rink is needed to improve the level of hockey that is currently played. It could also lead to having a junior team come to Bend and could be a way to go see decent hockey.

With the explosive growth in ice sports participation, there is just not enough ice time available to support the community. Adult hockey pickup sessions regularly fill within minutes of opening.

Hockey sessions sell out in under a minute - clearly the demand is there and business would be booming! Plus more jobs for BPRD employees!

Kids need access to activities that inspire them and safe environments to express themselves. Everyone has their own "thing" and if there isn't enough ice for these kids, they may have nothing else.

It would be cool but I feel we should put one in Redmond so kids there can get proper ice time because not everyone con go to bend plus Redmond’s is small and Redmond doesnt have much for young people

With large waitlists for curling/hockey, I think we need a new year-round rink. When an abundance of hockey-playing transplants combine with ever-increasing new local skaters, it more than makes sense

Reply

It's not just for curling and hockey. The figure skating classes are constantly waitlisted as well. ALL ice sports need more ice time and in the meantime, EVENLY distributed timing.

The attendance and registration numbers at the Pavillion demonstrate the demand. A 2nd rink could provide opportunities beyond imagination (think Disney on Ice or winter concerts).

The rink has become very popular and it is difficult to get on the ice for hockey pick-up games. The women's hockey group could also use more ice time. Thanks for the opportunity for input!

The hockey league has grown to the point there isn't enough ice time for all games, let alone the pick up games. C/D level pick up games fill up in under 1 minute, since they offer at best one a week.

This is a NEED for Bend not a want. And it should be done in conjunction with a new swimming facility like they do in Canada. The heat generated by keeping the ice cool heats the pool for free!

The pavilion is slammed busy all winter to the point they have overcrowded hockey leagues with waitlists. There's no excuse to not have ice hockey in Bend year round except that BPRD built a dumb rink

The rink time is extremely difficult to get for the kids and that is the future of hockey in Bend and in Oregon. A true rink is also key so that it can be used most of the year and be cost efficient.

Coming from a town with a very expansive hockey and skating culture, and multiple rinks (fairbanks alaska) it is clear that the serious interest for ice time in the bend calls for another rink.

Ice sports (hockey, figure skating, curling, etc.) require an ice rink for practice and participation. Whereas most other sports only need an open grassy area. Bend's demand for more ice is apparent!

Kids program and figure skating has exploded. Curling is very limited. For the adult leagues, there's been a wait list of at least 100 for the last 5 years. And you can't rent the ice. Dave Michalec

Those rinks don't service the needs of the ice sports community. They are find for recreational skating.

Dave Michalec
Dave Michalec

That's true, but those rinks do not already incorporate ice hockey, curling, an entire kids program for ice hockey, and cannot accommodate the demand for public skating like the Pavillion does.

Todd Paddack
Todd Paddack

Seventh Mountain is beautiful, a wonderful place to skate. But it's not good for any ice sports and it's only open 4 or 5 months a year.

Theresa Barton
Theresa Barton

While those rinks are nice for casual ice skating, they do not serve for all the wonderful recreational ice sports that the Pavilion doesn't have enough ice time to truly accommodate.

The strategic oil reserves are for times like this. We should also keep an eye on the oil companies and make sure they are not making extreme profits off the backs of the American citizens. After all that petroleum is being pumped from American taxpayers land that has been leased to these oil co.

No, the reserve is not for time like this, it is for times when we don't have oil available. We do have oil available now, and a LOT of oil available. It is just that Biden (and pseudo-environmentalists) don't want us to use it.

The US shouldn't be relying on foreign sources of energy when we have more than enough to be energy independent again. We were energy independent just over one year ago. But that ended on day one of this administration.

Explain why oil companies would not provide as much oil as possible at a time when prices are sky high. No, the prices are high due to speculation of shortage, given Biden's refusal to open up the spigot (the oil leases he claimed unused are not proven, exploration still necessary. ANWAR is KNOWN

We may need our reserves for war before this is over. Increase supply and lower costs by reversing Biden's orders and policies. https://americansforprosperity.org/biden-policies-raising-gas-prices/?fbclid=IwAR3jOvKpxrWnyT1iz2JrBflODu-aV7aHZdj_B4JgTndUI-8XFvAwXp3M1Jw

Absolutely not. Oil prices (and therefore gas prices) would drop dramatically if Congress would just reverse the disastrous executive orders Biden has put into effect restricting U.S. oil production.

Why tap into a reserve that is meant for when Oil is unavailable? We have plenty of oil available, it is just that irrational environmentalists don't want us to use it: https://www.realclearenergy.org/articles/2022/03/07/greenpeace_environmentalism_allowed_putin_to_invade_ukraine_820399.html

Yes they should. That is how I sold a piece of real estate I had. Happened four years ago. Was given a higher offer from a developer but I went with the people that sent me the letter. I was able to pick who was going to live next door to me. Have never regreted it. They are the best neighbors!
