It's sad that I have to avoid that discussion. Things are so polarized now that it doesn't matter how good a thought you have or how reasonable it is, you get dismissed and overrun even if baseless.

I am not always informed with politics because I cannot vote yet, and they are not always educated conversations.

I personally will talk about politics as a way to weed out people I don't want to surround myself around.

Every has an opinion, and even when we're on the same side of the fence, discussing it is still beating a dead horse. Unless either of us has something new, I stand against more talk.

I prefer to wait and see which side the individual is on before speaking up. I don't want to say the wrong thing to the wrong person and find myself with a real live one on my hands.

Actually both are bells & whistles, red flag no-no's for me but I chose religion because I am agnostic & it seems to trigger heated debates especially with the in-laws.

People take what they need from religion.....it fills a spiritual need within that person. If their religion does not harm someone, who am I to tell them that they are wrong.

Politics isn't as personal as religion. Since I don't know much about a lot of different religions, I can't capably debate the merits and shortfalls of both.

Religion is what keeps us apart if we spoke of it.
