I have 90% hearing loss. I would rather have that than 905 vision loss. I was legally blind at one time. deafness is preferable.

I've lived most of my life on the quiet side of life due to hereditary hearing loss but a quiet day can be a godsend. Blindness takes a lot more adjustment on a person's life.

I don't think I could handle not being able to look into the eyes of the people I love.

Sight opens the world to us - reading, driving, identifying loved ones, etc.

I couldn't live without reading. Also I couldn't use my laptop, TV, or navigate the house and shops, friends etc. I'd miss music a lot without hearing.

Though I'm half-blind I enjoy watching things going on around me in the day-to-day life.

As a mother of young children, hearing is important. They let you know something is wrong by sounds, especially when not in my direct line of sight .

Helen Keller always said that blindness separates you from THINGS, but deafness separates you from PEOPLE. I find this VERY true as I have several blind friends and blind hubby.

I have not completely lost my hearing but it is not as good as it used to be and it does make life difficult sometimes. I would hate to lose my sight also though.
