Put on a sweater. Even with 2 discounts and winterizing our home, winter PGE bill has been around $350-400 and that is keeping the house at 70

It doesn't make sense to me to waste money. Of course the heat is on in the winter, but not higher than it has to be. I will put on a sweat shirt or sweater before I crank up the heat higher than I have to. Also, I exercize in my house so it's not comfortable to have it too hot.

Being from Wisconsin, I'm all about the layers. Thermostat never goes over 70° for heat.

I'm an Oregonion who loves the outdoors so I learned to dress in layers long ago.

Well, yes, in the colder months we use the furnace, but of course we don't turn up the thermostat just because the outside temp goes down -- we may just burn a little more fuel to stay constant. And we keep things cool enough to wear an extra layer rather than making the house excessively warm.

Turning up the heat really doesn't cost that much. While I enjoy sleeping in a cool house of 62°, once I'm up and around I'll crank the heat to 78° to shower ajd get ready, until my breakfast carbs kick in; then, I'll turn it down to 72°, but am willing to change it up or down to remain comfortable.

What is a "sweater"? I was born & raised on the coast of the Gulf of Mexico. When it gets "cold" I wear long jeans instead of cut-off jeans.
