Most all other businesses have to pay a fair wage, but restaurants pay about $ 1.90 per hour and wants customers to pay their bills. Not fair to employees or customers.

The wage for a server is horrible. I think their salary should be raised and tipping eliminated.

Servers should receive fair & liveable wages while the tipping is added onto the final bill

Servers should get paid consistently for their work. It’s not fair to the server or the consumer and restaurants, like every other business, should be required to pay a liveable wage.

I'm tired of seeing tip jars everywhere I go! Insteaf of saying thank you for their business they expect us to pay for them handing us the items we paid for.

Servers are paid 1/2 minimum wage, so they need tips to survive. Pay servers a living wage!

A 'living wage' negates, at least in part, the need for tips. When I tip a server for THEIR personal service to my party. They can split that with others if they wish but many restaurants mandate it.

If you're going to raise the price of the meal to include a living wage, then yes. Several restaurants have done this.

I waitressed years ago, I was a good one. I had to split my tips with the busser and bar tender. I only got maybe 50% of the tip. Even if the others didn't do a good job, I still had to pay them.

Allowed space prohibited me from saying that in my post, but I feel that it should be up to the server as to how to split it. If he/she doesn't take care of the others, they won't help in the future.

Pay employees a living wage instead of expecting customers to make up the difference. I would rather pay more for my food than to tip.

I just want to pay the price of the meal and not worry if the waitress is satisfied or not w/ the amount I leave...

Who would work these jobs if it weren't for the tips? Plus, I think it makes for better service.

It’s a given in our society with restaurants, but to tip Starbucks, ice cream places, bakeries....its gone too far.

I believe you should tip by the service you get. I won't to a restaurant a second time if it's include.

With the hourly wages they give servers, they are surviving on those tips. I always give 20%.

For most waiters and waitresses that's how they make a living,it would put a lot of people further in the poor house if tipping was stopped

If they raise their salary match regular ones, then they7 can do it. The Euro way is not to tip and their service is great.

When a server does a great job, I like to reward them. A tip is an easy way to do so. If they just so-so get through an order, then no tip expresses disappointment without making a scene.

Tipping has always been a tradition since I was working in a restaurant during my high school career. The waiters/waitresses really need those tips. We need to continue to tip in restaurants.

Tips are one way to acknowledge good service and also to offset costs of salaries. Some waitresses get a lot of money in tips and it really helps.
