Is it OK to blow leaves into a street instead of raking them up?

I voted yes because it's so much easier...not everyone needs a compost pile. My city has leaf pickup and uses leaves as compost. And I live rural.

We have a Town leaf clean up, you are supposed to blow or rake your leaves to the edge of the street so the big vacuum truck can come by and take your leaves. In fact they fine you if you out them in the trash.

Where I live, they say pile the leaves at the curb. The machine they use to suck them up only reaches 6 feet from the truck so they need to be on the edge of the street.

It depends on the City's directive. Our city tells us to blow them into the little sidewalk box on our street and they come suck them up. They won 't pick them up in bags.

I personally don't do it we use leaf bags or garbage cans. But on some streets they will only pick up the leaves if they're in the street.

If your city or town does leaf collecting it is. My city has a truck that drives around collecting leaves in October & November. If your city doesn't collect them you need to bag them & bring them to the local compost or dump.

I blow them into the street. Traffic then beats them to a fine sift. The wind and the street sweeper then redistribute whats left. Some say this is rude. What is rude is neighbors that just let their leaves sit and eventually get blown back into my yard.

More people should use a compost pile instead.

I personally have made a compost pile for them but I believe it depends on the actual street. City block street? No way. A rural country road type street? Sure, why not

I dont think so because you should stay tidy and clean. And plus those leave could go into someone elses yard/property

Street's too darn far away to blow 'em all the way there. I scoot 'em into the woods!

It's only OK if you want the storm drains to clog and the next rainfall to flood your house.

NEVER blow leaves or grass into the street. It is SO dangerous for motorcycles. It can cause a serious wreck or death.

So they can just blow back later or build up in front of your house? Not a good idea.

It is nothing more than relocating them to blow back on our own or someone else's property.

No! In New England wet leaves are slippery.

Leaves blown around are horrible to breathe and clog up your nose. Also, it is not neighborly to blow your trash into the street or somebody else's yard to clean up. Fallen leaves should be raked up and sucked up by giant vacuum, then disposed of as compost

Bad manners. Not neighborly, and frankly i think local ordinances should cover this with a fine.

It's not someone elses job to clean up your mess. Look at it this way. "What if everyone on your block blew their leaves etc in the street"? Get the picture?

I’m glad I live in a manufactured home park where it’s okay and they come scoop them up; otherwise, take care of your own leaves.

Leaves are better used as mulch for plants and flowers in your yard. Blowing them in the street not only looks tacky, it can block a storm drain and we all know what happens next.

It creates a traffic hazard when the leaves get wet or freeze.

Especially when they get wet, leaves can be very slippery. They could conceivably cause a road hazard for motorcycles and other vehicles

We have always put the at the curb..out of the street for safety reasons..our town instructs all residents to do so for the same reason

the leaves won't stay in the street. they'll end up right back in your yard and in other people's yards. you're basically blowing them off your property onto your neighbor's, which is not cool.

The leaves go into the sewer system where they clog it up and cost tax money to clear out. People need to bag them, they really do.

Not the sewer--the drainage pipes

Best case scenario the leaves will then blow into your neighbors yardsworst case leaves can become very slippery when wet and cause accidents which could seriously hurt or kill someone
