We all have to perform Labor to get through this Life. No one "Labor Day" is any different from another day of labor.

If I were not retired, if I had a bunch of friends or family who are also off work and like to barbeque, I would celebrate. It's to celebrate the working crowd...and I'm not there anymore. One day is the same to me as the next.

I'm off work and it's definitely a nice holiday but I don't do anything special to observe it.

I have been working for over half my life and feel I deserve a day for me to go escape by myself with a mini road trip while shutting down ALL electronics
Replyit is a day to celebrate the comon man and his hard work.Also another day off from work.
ReplyI have shared custody of my son. When his Dad has him, I work through the weekend. When I have him, I take the time off and we enjoy each other's company at home or we do something nice elsewhere. We do the fancy stuff over the summer when we have a whole week instead of just a weekend.
ReplySang some labor songs at a jam Sunday -- Joe Hill, Union Maid -- but since we retired it's not like holidays mean special days off.
