Absolutely. Who wants to constantly keep that painful part of our history in the forefront. Call it The Rivalry

I have never liked this name. It conjures up images of the most divisive moment in this country. This is a competition between two universities in Oregon. A competition, not a hate war.

There are movements all over the country renaming things that had any connection to the historical Civil War. This is but another and it is a good idea.

A sporting event is not a war, that is my first objection. Then of course there is the trivialization of the real Civil War where people died, our ancestors. They deserve better.

Treasonous soldiers tried to overtake our country and they lost. Then after defeat killed our President. Let that sink in. Rename the game to the “ Duck vs Beaver Bowl”

This situation is becoming ridiculous. Pretty soon we will be banned from wearing blue a/o grey clothes, insulting someone.

It's heritage between the northern & southern school; has nothing to do with racism. It's just a reference to their geographic locations. Why infer some meaning that is not.

There is no reason to rename, change the game at all. The pandering to the BLM is out of control. They are trying to destroy history along with the USA. Enough is enough.

I don't understand why this is or should be an issue. It's been this way forever.

So now we're going to demand other countries change their history as well? I.E. Spanish Civil War? What if there is a new American Civil War between Republicans and Democrats???

You are not an idiot but someone else here resembles one. I also think all this renaming and tearing down monuments to our history is ridiculous

The state refused to keep people and businesses safe. Someone needed to step in.

They have the right to demonstrate but they do not have the right to damage or destroy. Apparently local enforcement couldn't handle it. Stop it asap

Trump is agitating the situation. If Gov Newsom had thought it necessary he would have called them in. It was not Trump’s decision to make. Trump is merely trying to take over California because it is a mainly democratic state and he considers its citizens enemies
