Look back at Parsegian (SP) of ND against Mich St. That haunted him forever. That was not Osborne's plan for NU. If they had won, they would have been the top of college football for years.

you don't have overtime in '84. you go for the win, not the tie if you are a competitor.

Same reason Osborne said - you play to win. If there had been overtime back then you kick the xtra point and play it out

Because there was no doubt that Dr. Tom would go for 2. Go for the win, not the tie. Football isn't soccer, hehe. I guess it is.

Although I do not have a problem with what coach Osborne did I do feel that going to their home field and with their crowd advantage, that a tie would have been a win.

The National Championship that would have gone with the tie would have been at lease as valuable as the split with Michigan! Arkansas Husker

The goal at the beginning of the season was to win a title. Kick the extra point and you achieve the goal. TO's gambled cost all those players a championship and years of wondering needlessly.

Do you think Trev Alberts was correct to push for the coaching staff changes before season end?

It was right to do sooner than later

The defense has made progress. The offense not so much. The real problem is Frost's dedication to Martinez. Adrian is a great guy, but his minuses exceed his pluses.

The production was there from those coaches. Better to make the decision then, so you can still have a positive impact with recruiting.

If you are not going to make new hires before the end of the season anyway, what was the purpose in firing them now? It will be interesting to see how the offense performs, but I can't see this as beneficial.
