The passing game opens up the running game. It forces the linebackers into coverage which then opens up the running game. You have to have a balanced attack.

I agree with the other guy. We would not have nearly as much success with the running game if there was no passing game. I O line is not powerful enough to just bull doze everyone in the box if there were no Passing game.

We controlled the line of scrimmage and physically imposed our will. We set the tone early and often that we WERE going to run the ball. The passing game was enough to keep them honest and provide good balance, but it was the run game that allowed us to control the tempo, and ultimately the outcome.

With as good as the passing game is now under our new staff, with the running game as good as it showed Saturday, assuming they can do the same to higher level competition, we can be sneaky good this season. But we HAVE to tighten up the pass defense. The D line REALLY needs to step up too.

Do you think Trev Alberts was correct to push for the coaching staff changes before season end?

It was right to do sooner than later

The defense has made progress. The offense not so much. The real problem is Frost's dedication to Martinez. Adrian is a great guy, but his minuses exceed his pluses.

The production was there from those coaches. Better to make the decision then, so you can still have a positive impact with recruiting.

I imagine the transfer portal had a lot to do with the timing.

It had to be done and it clear that things are going to happen at NU.

The team was not going to become better with their existing staff. Make the cut and start improving.

If you are not going to make new hires before the end of the season anyway, what was the purpose in firing them now? It will be interesting to see how the offense performs, but I can't see this as beneficial.
